Z It is suggested that all the young adults should undertake a period of unpaid work helping people in the community.
Does it bring more benefits or drawbacks to the community and the young people?
Introduction: refer to the task question, using paraphrasing. My own opinion – the trend brings more benefits than drawbacks.
Body Paragraph #1: the drawback of doing unpaid work (1) time wasting -> affects their academic performance (2) they face the risk of being exploited and taken advantage of.
Body Paragraph #2: the benefits of doing unpaid work (1) can understand the fundamental value of being in a community and assisting others (2) practice critical skills such as problem-solving and cooperating, which are important for their future careers (3) create bond among people
Conclusion: although there are minus points to doing unpaid community activities, it seems to me that its advantages would be more beneficial to the young and the community.
It is recommended that all youngsters should engage in voluntary activities to support the needy in the community. This trend would introduce both pros and cons, but I believe that it would bring more advantages than disadvantages to the young and the community.
On one side, it is obvious that undertaking unpaid work may bring several drawbacks. To begin with, working for the community on a volunteer basis might be time-intensive. To elaborate, if young adults are required to spend a significant amount of time on unpaid jobs, they will have to shorten their study time. Consequently, their academic performance may suffer and affect their overall record in the long haul. Furthermore, certain organizations may take advantage of the youth’s desire to help the community and exploit them. Young people, in particular, may be forced to overwork for fraudulent charitable organizations.
On the other hand, I believe that the benefits of this trend would prove to be worthwhile. Firstly, the young would be able to comprehend the fundamental value of being in a community and assisting others. They can learn to be compassionate with others, especially those who are less fortunate, by participating in unpaid social work. Moreover, participating in voluntary activities allows young people to practice critical skills such as problem-solving and cooperating, which are important for their future careers. Because while doing charity work, they may have to deal with many complex problems which require them to be flexible and adaptive. This will not only benefit young citizens but also create a lasting bond amongst people in a society.
In conclusion, although there are minus points to doing unpaid community activities, it seems to me that its advantages would be more beneficial to the young and the community.
